Full HTTPS Support

Mon, 28 Nov 2011 22:13:09 -0500 - ajanata

I've installed a properly verified SSL certificate for the website. As such, using HTTPS is required when doing anything on the website that involves your account: Creating an account, logging in, and editing settings. You should see a green verified icon when using any of those pages (or whatever your browser of choice does to indicate valid HTTPS). If you have any problems, please let us know immediately.

Tournaments!

Mon, 31 Oct 2011 19:57:19 -0400 - ajanata

A couple weeks ago, tournament tracking was added to the site. It's pretty simplistic at the moment, and the really cool things start to happen when you link it to a Z33K tournament (which, at the moment, is limited to StarCraft II). To get an idea of what the tournament system can provide, check out this test tournament and make sure to look at the cool live view. (The boxes are movable and resizable in the live view!)

It's still in a fairly early stage, but it is certainly usable and quite cool to use especially if you have multiple streams for a tournament. (At the moment, the automatic window placement works best for 2 or 3 streams. It does a pretty bad job with just one.)

And as always, if you find a bug or have a feature request, please file a ticket!

Yet Another New Server

Sun, 08 May 2011 03:14:41 -0400 - ajanata

SocialGamer.net is moving to yet another new server (though this one has lasted us over a year and a half!). This will gradually be taking place over the next week or two. There probably will be some slight service interruptions, but we'll do our best to keep it minimized. TeamSpeak has already been migrated to the new server. If you've not been using voip.socialgamer.net, you'll have to start doing so.

Minecraft!

Thu, 17 Mar 2011 00:20:16 -0400 - vsTerminus

For the last two months or so, most of us here at SocialGamer have been playing far too much Minecraft.
If you own the game, you're more than welcome to come and join us on our Creative server. You'll find the server info, integrated chat, user stats, an hourly map render, server rules and available commands on our Minecraft page.
Here are the steps to connect:

  • First, register a SocialGamer account or login to an existing one.
  • Next you'll need to put your Minecraft account name into your Account Options
  • Finally, put this address into the Server IP box in Minecraft: minecraft.socialgamer.net

By default, you will not be able to build anything. If you want Builder access, please talk to me on IRC or in the game and I will set it up.
See you there!

Email Issues Resolved

Fri, 04 Mar 2011 20:55:33 -0500 - ajanata

Our email service has been migrated to a new provider. Emails set to staff@ should be working correctly again. We've also made changes to how mail is sent from our server. It appears to be working correctly, but if you're not receiving account verification emails please let us know. Thank you!
